Detects every structure element

Figure alt text

Identifies image objects and wraps them in Figure tags, ready for you to add descriptive alt text.

List detection

Recognizes bullet, numbered, and lettered lists and tags them as L and LI elements.

Common questions

PDF tagging adds a hidden structure tree to your PDF that screen readers, assistive devices, and reflow engines use to navigate the document. Without tags, a blind user's screen reader reads content in the wrong order or skips it entirely. Tagged PDFs are required for WCAG 2.1 compliance and Section 508 (US government).
Yes - guests can tag up to 3 PDFs per day with no account needed. Free accounts (no credit card) get 20 PDFs/month with 7-day history. The Pro plan at Rs.499/month unlocks 500 PDFs/month, 50 MB files, and API access.
PDF/UA (ISO 14289) is the international standard for Universal Accessibility in PDF documents. It extends PDF/A and requires proper tag structure, correct reading order, alt text on all non-decorative images, and document language declaration. RubanTag output targets PDF/UA-1 compliance.
For PDFs created from Word, LibreOffice, or InDesign (not scanned images), accuracy is typically 85-90%. Complex multi-column layouts achieve around 70-75%. Scanned PDFs (image-only) have no text layer to analyze - you'll need OCR first. The accessibility report flags any issues found so you can review them.
Guest uploads are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Free accounts retain files for 7 days. Pro accounts retain for 90 days. You can delete any job from your history at any time. Files are stored securely and never shared.
Yes - the Pro and Enterprise plans include REST API access. Generate API keys from your dashboard and integrate auto-tagging directly into your workflow. See the API docs page for endpoint details.
